I call myself an artist, but I think that just expresses my love of creation. Whether it is painting, drawing, or building a display I always love creating dynamic imagery from a blank page or empty space.
I'm currently working at the Oklahoma Aquarium handling various aspects of marketing, graphic art, and exhibit design. You will see a variety of my work from my job on my various portfolio pages. I attended the University of Oklahoma (with a year in Spain at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, School of Fine Arts) and received a bachelors of fine arts with an emphasis in sculpture and media art.
In my work I love playing with contrasting values of light and dark, repetition of forms, and dynamic imagery. I feel that art needs to be immediately accessible to a viewer without an explanation. That doesn't mean that I think it needs to be watered down at all, just presented in a way that the viewer can have an emotional response without hearing me explain my intentions.
As far as mediums go, I'm all over the place. I use the computer probably most of all in my work as a tool, but at the end of the day I consider it to be just a tool. I think traditional mediums are equally important, and even more so that the artist's ideas and vision show through it all.
